Fall Fishing: Solitude, In - Ramp Hogs, Out

Published by keyfisher at 10:44 am under Uncategorized Edit This

As the weather cools down in the Mid-atlantic region where I am from, many fisherman start thinking about winterizing their boats and organizing their gear for storage.  Some of the lucky folks may start planning a warm weather fishing get away for the winter.  As for me, I organize my long johns and Under Armour and reorganize the order of the tackle boxes in my boat to prepare for the fall / winter season.

If you can brave the cold, the fall and winter can be  very rewarding times to fish.  Jet skis, pwc, and overloaded, noisy boats, full of inexperienced weekenders who block the ramps and run on plane through your fishing spots are all indoors watching football or getting ready for the holidays.  Meanwhile, you are out on the river or  lake with only a few dedicated fisherman enjoying a solice that only nature can provide.

As an added bonus, mother nature re-decorates your surroundings and the the color of her wallpaper shines in the changing colors of the trees.  Big bass begin to gourge to prepare for the winter, the water clears up, and grass begins to shift, leaving a roadmap to the new bass hang outs.

Over the next few months I will be sharing my techniques, successes, failures, and stories of my late season fishing.  While I am preparing the next post, change your thought pattern from winterization to warm weather gear, and get yourself ready to enjoy a new fishing experience.  As for me, I will be on the water preparing for the last tournament of the season, and enjoying the reduction of boat traffic and ramp hogs!
